About this site

Built by a synagogue board volunteer who had to run a software evaluation and could not find an independent source to start from.

Why it exists

Choosing synagogue management software is a decision a congregation makes perhaps once a decade, by volunteers, with a budget set by a board, on a timeline set by the High Holidays. The information available is almost all written by vendors, and the few comparison guides from Jewish communal organizations have aged. The result is that the same small set of questions (what does it cost all-in, does it handle yahrzeits properly, can the treasurer live with it, can we get our data out) get answered by sales calls.

This site answers them from the vendors' own documentation, in one place, with the source linked and the date shown.

Who it is for

Synagogue administrators and executive directors, treasurers and finance committees, rabbis and gabbaim who have to live with the ritual-side features, school directors, and the board members who will vote on the contract.

How it is run

A small editorial team led by a volunteer who ran this evaluation for his own congregation. We do not publish individual names on the site; the editor is reachable at editor@synagoguesoftwarereviews.com and will identify himself to any vendor or journalist who asks. The editorial policy covers independence and corrections; the methodology covers scoring.

What we would like help with

If you administer a synagogue and are willing to describe your experience with a product, especially migrations, billing accuracy and support responsiveness, write to us. We will not publish anything that identifies you or your congregation without permission.
